Concerto for Oboe in C major K.314 (Oboe & Piano) Sheet music – January 1, 1990

Mozart's Concerto in C major for Oboe K.314, composed in 1777, in an authoritative Urtext edition based on the New Mozart Edition. Throughout his career Mozart had a special feeling for the wind instruments. Not only did he add a distinctive flavour to the wind band in his orchestral music - indeed, his writing for winds became a defining and inimitable feature of his music - he also wrote compositions for wind players in his circle of friends. Correspondence suggests that the Flute Concerto in D major has its origin in the Oboe Concerto in C major. The latter was composed as early as spring or summer 1777 for the oboist Giuseppe Ferlendis from Bergamo. In our oboe and piano reduction in addition to an Urtext oboe solo part there is a performance part prepared by Frank de Bruine. Given the close relationship between Mozarts D major flute concerto and the original concerto for oboe, a reference score has been included with the Urtext oboe part set above the Urtext flute part transposed to C major.
